Two days after New Moon, a delicate crescent is beginning to reclaim the evening sky.
On August 14, 2026, the Moon is in its Waxing Crescent phase. From Greenwich, approximately 4 percent of the lunar disk is illuminated, while calculations for Brisbane place it at roughly 2.6 percent at the listed daily observation point.
The difference is a useful reminder that lunar illumination changes continuously and quoted daily percentages depend upon the exact time and location used for the calculation. (Time and Date)
This is a young Moon.
A Moon of direction rather than destination.
And that gives us today's story.
The Celestial Compass.
Following New Moon, the Moon travels progressively farther from the Sun in our sky. Each evening, more of its sunlit hemisphere becomes visible from Earth, gradually transforming a barely perceptible curve into the increasingly prominent Waxing Crescent.

For observers, this is one of the most beautiful stages of the lunar cycle.
The Moon appears in the western part of the sky after sunset, remaining relatively close to the horizon during these early days of the cycle.
As successive evenings pass, the crescent becomes thicker and easier to identify. (Moongiant)
But there is something else happening here that is easy to overlook.
The Moon is moving.
Not randomly.
Not suddenly.
It follows an orbit governed by gravity, continuously changing its position relative to Earth and the Sun.
There is direction within the movement.
Human beings have been using the heavens to find direction for thousands of years.
Long before satellite navigation, people learned to read the sky.
Stars helped travellers establish direction.
The Sun provided information about the passage of the day.
Seasonal changes in the night sky helped societies understand where they were within the year.
Celestial navigation eventually became one of humanity's great practical applications of astronomy.
Sailors could determine their position by carefully measuring the altitude of celestial objects above the horizon and combining those observations with accurate timekeeping and astronomical tables.
The sky became a map.
Not because arrows were drawn across it, but because its movements were predictable.
That distinction is important.
A compass does not tell us what journey to take.
It provides orientation.
Astronomy works in much the same way.
The universe does not provide instructions for our lives.
But observing it can change our perspective on movement, timing and direction.
Today's young crescent illustrates this beautifully.
It has only just emerged from conjunction with the Sun, yet it is already moving towards First Quarter. For Brisbane, the Moon sets at approximately 7:01 pm on August 14, giving evening observers a relatively brief opportunity to find the young crescent after sunset.

There is no need for the Moon to hurry.
Its direction is already established.
Perhaps there is something useful in that.
We often measure progress by distance.
How far have I gone?
How much have I achieved?
How quickly am I getting there?
But distance becomes meaningless when we are travelling in a direction we never wanted to take.
Sometimes the more important question is not how quickly we are moving.
It is whether we are moving towards something that actually matters.
That is the idea behind The Celestial Compass.
A beginning creates possibility.
Direction turns possibility into a journey.
There are moments when life asks us to stop accumulating options and make a choice.
Not necessarily a permanent choice.
Not necessarily a perfect one.
Simply a direction.
The young Moon does not illuminate half the night sky immediately after New Moon.
It begins with a sliver.
Then another evening arrives.
And another.
Illumination increases.
The shape becomes clearer.
What was difficult to see becomes unmistakable.
Perhaps confidence develops in much the same way.
We do not always become certain and then move.
Sometimes we move carefully, observe what happens and allow certainty to develop through experience.
That is very different from rushing.
Direction does not require speed.
It requires awareness.
As twilight settles on August 14, the young crescent offers a beautiful astronomical reminder that beginnings do not remain beginnings forever.
Every orbit continues.
Every phase changes.
Every journey accumulates distance.
The question is whether that distance is taking us somewhere worth reaching.
A compass does not walk the journey for us.
It simply reminds us that direction matters before distance does.

In my sessions I work by creating a focused energetic thread between us as well as anyone that you want to bring in. I combine intuitive tuning, my own oracle work, and a form of automatic writing to gather clear insight.
In order for that process to stay accurate and undiluted, I need one question at a time, typed out and isolated. When questions are bundled together, the energy becomes scattered and it affects the precision of what comes through.
I also offer palmistry readings. In order to do this I will need both hands clearly showing all lines. I need a minimum of 15 minutes for this type of reading please note that this is not fortune telling.
